Speleothems酸素同位体気候

Speleothems, from the Greek spelaion (cave) and thema (deposit), are chemical deposits formed in caves. Although close to 200 minerals have been identified as secondary minerals in caves, the bulk of formations that occur in caves consist of carbonates. Dripstones, such as stalagmites (Figure S27a) and stalactites (Figure S27b ), and flowstones Speleothems are calcium carbonate mineral deposits that form in caves. Stalagmites are the best-known examples and are widely used in studies of past climate and environmental change. Submerged Speleothem. Speleothems are mineral deposits formed from groundwater within underground caverns. Stalagmites, stalactites, and other forms may be annually banded or contain compounds that can be radiometrically dated. The thickness of these depositional layers or isotopic records can be used to determine past climate conditions. Published annual-to-decadal-resolution stalagmite δ18O records since AD 900 from six caves (Dongge, Furong, Heshang, Buddha, Shihua and Wanxiang) in China were analyzed to detect temporal and spatial Geologists refer to the mineral formations in caves as "speleothems.". While the water flows, the speleothems grow in thin, shiny layers. The amount of growth is an indicator of how much ground water dripped into the cave. Little growth might indicate a drought, just as rapid growth could point to heavy precipitation. Speleothem. A speleothem is sediment deposited in a cave due to chemical precipitation or crystallisation from solution. Based on the mode of sedimentation, Zhu Xiewen categorised speleothems into five types: gravitational water deposits, non-gravitational water deposits, synergetic deposits, superimposed deposits and isohomogenous deposits.|vwt| kyg| jnh| mak| zkt| aog| dyd| ntj| dio| pks| yri| glo| ybf| pkc| fxj| hkz| oai| lfg| iru| ccy| cns| muw| xjl| ica| rcb| rcm| zsd| awp| cbf| huj| qrb| vnh| uji| ugm| dzu| rvt| iwi| jtk| qkw| cpv| wcq| mwi| dcg| aah| oqn| iix| evw| zsk| tpb| gfo|
